Pearl

I’ve been hearing the word “pearl” for the last few days when going through some video in using the embossing powder. Scrapbookers have been using the word “pearl” to describe the kind of white embossing powder that let out shines. It IS actually the right word to use, as pearl do really let out shines and we can’t call it white, ‘cos white is just plan white that doesn’t shine like pearl.

Ladies love pearl jewelry, especially Chinese ladies. Some believe that pearl can bring you through the old age gracefully and it will be able to lead you through the path of after life.

I’m wearing a pair of pearl earrings today. Of course they are not those with high quality and can last for ages without turning yellowish. Pearl jewelry can be as simple as just a stud earring to exaggerating designed with diamond. One day, I’m going to have my own collection of pearl jewelry for sure *wink*.

Conventional hand made card

I love making cards, I love receiving real cards. Unfortunatly now a days, we all use virtual card. The contemporary cards almost gone distinct! Thanks to crafter around the globe who still keep their zest burning for this craft making, that I still can see lovely greeting cards in the bookstore. However I’ve stop buying commercially produced cards and revert to use hand made cards, which personally made, by me!

Well, still there are times that I will use online greeting cards especialy for those who I just got to know, or those akward situation where I don’t have the time to look for a card, or I just don’t have the time to make a card. It is just too easy to use greeting cards online, with a few clicks, choosing and personalizing your card, then it is being sent out without even needing to go to the post office! No need to worry about parking, the UV and queing! Isn’t it great!?

Yes, I know. I’ll still find the reason to make cards sometimes *wink*.

Being rude here

Goodness, why there are people that can be so annoying at work!?

We are already been trying to improve our work, speeding up process so that our daily target can be met. Staffs trying their best to have quality work output, and yet this one person wanted to add up our work load by lessening those work load for those who doesn’t need to do much!?

I’ve got really pissed-off by that and was trying to give out all the facts and figures to show that our staffs are already doing their best and overwork due to the work situation and lacking of staff. I hope this one person can just give it up and be considerate, plus don’t take advantage of my staffs.

To be very bitchy, I think this one person need to watch out for her health and take some fat burner supplements.

In real, she might be just one person who are trying to help her own staff, and maybe I’ve just been exaggerating, or maybe I’ve been having a bad day. But hey, I don’t want my staff to get over stressed as well, isn’t it?

Audio-book

Stephen R. Covey writes good books on time management, on how to stay focus on personal and professional achievement. This one specific title that I’m holding right now is available in sound disc, it is a self-directed audio workshop which is completed with an audio workbook. The title is “Focus: achieving your highest priorities”.

We seldom face this kind of challenges or problem in different stages of our lives. When I were a student, I’m not sure how I can stay focus on my study and at the same time on my co-curriculum, plus my social life (if I have one at that time). When I started work, I wasnt’ sure what should I be focusing on, my work or my personal goal. Even now I have problems in identifying what is my highest priorities, be it my children, my family or myself.

The good thing about this self-help guide is that it comes in CD forms which is definitely lighter than normal book size. Another great thing about it is you can even listen to it while you are on the road. There are lots of audio-books now-a-days. Get yourself an iPod or MP3 player and you are away to enjoy a good story while on the run, in the gym, on traffic jam and such.

Your selves space will also be easier to manage if you are having audio-books. Moving time definitely be shorten if you are in such a situation. That will also save you some money if you are getting help from the long distance moving companies.

Moving is definitely not my cup-of-tea as I’m really poor in packing things up and then find them back again. Hopefully when that day come, I have really minimal things to move.

The same old question

Spank or no spank? Yup, this probably is every parent’s question disciplining their child.

Me? I do spank them but with conditions. There are rules that I believe would really affect the result of spanking. First and the most important one is never, ever spank a child when you are angry. In other words, never discipline your child when you are mad.

I will go get some fresh air before I start scolding them whenever possible. I’ll also try to look at things from their perspective on why they do that before I judge them and before I start blaming them. I have had really bad experience before after I scolded them when I was mad at them. The obvious thing was that they mimic what and how I said angry words to other kids, or they themselves. They even use it back on me! I had to reassure them that mommy still loves them, mommy don’t simply spank them and don’t simply scold them over nothing. So, never ever spank or discipline your child when you are angry.

When I was chasing after them on doing things, I think of them as my weight loss pills *LOL*. Yes, true enough, they do help me keeping in shape. They had me getting up to go where they wanted, they had me picking up on toys that they left on the floors, etc. Furthermore, they are kids that always with good intention no matter how sillyd they might seems, but they are really kind in heart even when I told him that “Well, you can’t simply water the plant at any time of the day. You might just kill them.” *LOL*

Can’t fit in?

It is the season again. The time of the year that many people getting married. I myself have been out from the social cycle thus I’ve only got one invitation this month. But I have heard from friends that they have up to 3 invitations!

For women, we’ll start thinking what should we wear for the wedding banquet. Not like we want to steal the limelight from the bride, but looking good is a manner itself especially to any function. Fortunately I’ve got myself ready with a dress that I can wear to the banquet, else I might running around looking for new dress. Well, I still might not be doing that as I don’t really like spending for just one occasion, I might just go for any old clothes that I have and just add up some accessories.

I’ve been hearing from someone close that she is having problem looking for nice dresses just because she has gain some weight, poor girl. Probably she could consider having the best weight loss pills to solve her headache. *wink*

As for me, I’ll be happily going for the banquet next week as this will be like a school reunion for me as it is the best time to meet all my classmates whom are still in town to catch up on old times.

Those machines

I went into those electrical shops over in Karamunsing the other day just to get a new washing machine. It took us a hard time in deciding the model that we want. There are just too many to choose from, more importantly is the price that suits our budget.

Initially, we wanted to get a front loading washing machine as it is well known for its gentleness on our clothes. But one normal front loading washing machine would easily cost us more than RM1500! Thus we changed our mind and get ourselves a top loading washing machine instead. Plus, mom was complaining that she has problem kneeling down to get all those clothes out from the front loading washing machine.

While I was there, I’ve checked out there flat screen televisions. They are as many if not more than those washing machine that we have seen. How I wish there is a catalog completed with price for me to choose from.

I would love to have a flat screen TV in my house, firstly it looks better, wider screen and it save space. All I hope is it is better for the eyes as my children love to watch cartoon.

Comfort

We have just been without air-conditions for a few days over in our office, I heard some wire got burnt! Fortunately it didn’t cause any fire. But then if there really is a fire and I’m safe, maybe I don’t need to work *LOL*.

Anyway, this incident let me know how precious is air-con to us especially when our office is in the basement.  Those who come in our office definitely felt the difference especially with the heat outside. If you are staying in a 1-storey terrace house in Luyang area which has low ceiling, you can even feel it more. Air-condition will be your solution for a hot day in order to feel at ease and comfortable to just sit in the house.

We had our room air-con on every night for the past week when I was in my in-laws’ home. I think I can live better with a fully air-con house except rainy season. Just a thought.

On the other hand, I think the right kind of furniture also help me to sit comfortably. If without air-con and I am sitting on a leather chair, buoy, I could imagine how sweaty my tights would be. Thus I would just prefer non-leather office furniture with simple design. Most probably I’m just a rather simple person *wink*.

My mountains

Been to 1Borneo last night for our “Dumpling Day” = 端午節. Had our dinner there. Dinner was fine, there were not too crowded over there, and we get our seats easily in one of the Chinese Restaurant.

After dinner was window shopping time. Took some times to look at the lighting and furniture. Chan furniture is having their display on the level 1 and I saw one bright red easy chair which cost RM299! Felt so much to get it and put it in my office, so that maybe I can laze there during lunch hour, or maybe it would be nice to have it in the new house. I know, I’ve started dreaming again, ‘cos basically now we are in real tight budget in getting the house done. Structure work is already costing us around RM30k. I haven’t even included the floor and wall tiles, furniture, kitchen cabinet, bath sinks, toilet and so forth. That would probably cost us another RM30k.

So I would better start saving now (which maybe too late now) and worse come to worst we will do it stage by stage and the kitchen cabinet will be last in the priority list. There goes my designer kitchen.

What more at the moment, I have a few issues to settle, the most recent one will be my auto insurance. I know that is not much but when things add up, it becomes mountains! Just hope I can get my EPF out for the house renovation.

Grapes of wrath

Do you like classic movies from the US? The one that I’m having right now brings back the history of drought in 1934 or so call the Great Depression.

The movie was made in 1040, directed by John Ford based on the novel by John Steinbeck.

The story set with the Great Depression as background, telling the story of a family who wanted to continue their life in California as their home town Oklahoma can hardly plant anything.

Through this video, I found myself looking for the history of America during that period. It was when Franklin D. Roosevelt just took over the presidency in 1932. He basically bring back the nations economic situation and have served more than one term of presidency.

Read more on “This day in history” about the economic crisis and President Roosevelt here. As for the synopsis of the movie, you can always go to IMDb.
